Tipis

Smoke Flaps

The smoke flaps help to create air circulation inside the tipi, they can remain open during the day to provide additional light, and allow smoke from an open fire, or wood burner to escape. They can also remain open at night to catch a clear view of the sky above you. The smoke flaps are operated by two poles on the outside of the tipi. The connical design of the tipi creates a natural draft of air, which is ideal in hot weather as it keeps the tipi cool inside.

Wooden Stakes & Lacing Pins

We can supply sets of wooden stakes, and lacing pins which are sourced from sustainably harvested ash, by local craftsmen. Sets of stakes and lacing pins can be purchased separately in our range of accessories. We recommend using between 12-18 stakes, depending on the size of your tipi

Poly-Cotton Canvas

Poly-Cotton Canvas is a mixture of cotton, and polyester and retains the best characteristics for outdoor living throughout the year. The Benefits of Poly-Cotton Canvas 1. Helps prevent mildew and rot 2. Increases water resistance 3. Lighter than other materials 4. Retains its breathability 5. Prevents the material from ripping All our canvas is fully treated with Eco-Friendly canvas waterproofing.

Canvas Bag

Tipis & bell tents are supplied with a canvas carry bag. They can also be purchased separately in our store. When packed in its bag, a tipi is approx 1m x 1m x 1.2m, and a bell tent is approx 0.6m x 0.6m x 0.8m (WxHxL) *(larger tipis are supplied with a seperate cotton bag for the inner liner).

Canvas Door

All Canvas and Full package tipis are supplied with a 16oz poly-cotton canvas door. The door is rolled up and down as required and tied in place above the opening.

Tipi Poles

The tipi poles / lodge poles form the main structure of the tipi, tied together in a conical shape and spread out at the base. Each pole is tapered from 2.5"-3" at the base to 1.5" at the top, and can be anywhere between 20'-25' in length. We always recommend that all wooden components should be obtained from sustainable sources local to our customers

Inner Liner

The inner liner is made from pure cotton material. It is 1.5m / 6' high and is tied in place to the inside of the tipi cover. The inner liner is essential for insulation and works with the ozan to provide a surface for any condensation, or rain water to run away from the living area of the tipi, ensuring that the inside of the tipi remains dry. All tipi packages are supplied with both inner liner, and full ozan but both are available to purchase seperately in our online shop.

Ozan

The Ozan is an overhead canvas dropped ceiling for a tipi, which redirects any drips which may come through the smoke flaps. It also helps to retain the warmth inside the tipi.

Rain Hat

If you're planning to use your tipi in wet climates, or for extended periods of time you may want to consider using a Rain Hat Effectively, this is a giant shower cap which is installed over the tipi poles to prevent the rain from entering the tipi, and running down the tipi poles.

Groundsheet

All groundsheets are made to measure from high quality, heavy duty PVC. The ground sheet is laid in place underneath the tipi, or bell tent to provide dry conditions to sleep, or sit. It also creates a barrier to protect soft furnishings.

Eco-Friendly Waterproofing

Eco-Friendly Canvas Waterproofing increases the hydrophobic qualities of the canvas so water forms in beads and runs off, rather that being absorbed. It ensures the canvas retains all of its characteristics while providing an eco-friendly treatment to promote water, rot, and UV resistance.

Guy Ropes

The guy ropes provide the tension which pulls the canvas into shape. One end of the guy rope is fixed to the exterior of the canvas, and the other is staked in to the ground to provide support and stability to the tent. All of our tipis, and bell tents come with all the ropes you'll need, but we also supply this separately in our accessories range.

Bell Tents

Centre Pole / Lodge Pole (Bell Tents)

The center pole / lodge pole is the main central support of the bell tent, and should be approximately 3"-4" wide x 3m in height.

Mosquito Nets (Bell Tents)

Our bell tents come with 2 windows, both of which can be opened / closed with a zip from the inside. The windows feature sewn-in mosquito nets, which offer protection against mosquitos, flies, and other insects.
